PENN STATE LICENSE PLATE

I received this email from Brian Harkless: "My wife is a member of the LSU alumni association and they are currently in the approval process to get LSU plates in TX. They only need to have orders for 1900 plates and then they can be produced. Surely Penn State has at least that many alumni in the state who might be interested in getting a new PSU plate. It seems to me that if all the alumni associations work together on this we might be able to put something together.
According to the alumni association website there are over 7200 alums living in TX and 2600 of those are in the association. That might make 1900 a high percentage to shoot for but wouldn't it be cool to have the furthest PSU plates from PA? Here is the TXDOT link to the sponsor information with a list of FAQ's that might spur some thought on the matter. At the very least, you guys are in a position to poll your membership and see if there's enough interest to get something like this done. http://www.txdot.gov/services/vehicle_titles_and_registration/specialty_plates/sponsor_faqs.htm

If you are seriously interested in trying for a Penn State License Plate in Texas, please send an email to psualumnisa@gmail.com so that I can start gathering numbers to submit to other chapters in Texas =)

I have already had several responses and I am sorry for not responding but I will try to get arount to everyone as soon as I can.

Thanks!

Paranormal State

Although this might be controversial for some, I wanted to recognize a group of Penn Staters who appear on a television show titled Paranormal State.

The new season began on Monday, July 31st on the A&E channel.

About the show (taken directly from the website):

"Delve deep into the strange and the mysterious with Paranormal Research Society founder Ryan Buell and his team of investigators as they attempt to unravel inexplicable paranormal phenomena including sixth-sense experiences, ghost sightings, demonic disturbances, and brushes with the darkest areas of the unknown. Founded by Buell in 2001, the PRS works on cases across the country and is one of the most recognized paranormal societies in the nation. This season includes a Pennsylvania couple besieged by paranormal activity in their home, an aggressive poltergeist in Maryland, and a ghostly hag nicknamed the "Lady Vampire" by the Texas family she torments. Through the use of Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP) recordings and video documentation, and with the help of renowned psychics, demonologists, psychologists and counselors, the PRS explores these bizarre cases in the hopes of helping frightened people who have nowhere else to turn."

T.V. show times and listings can be found at: http://www.aetv.com/paranormal-state/

The official PRS website: http://www.pennstateprs.com/

I am very proud when I get to see glimpses of the campus when they are filming!

If you would like to share a story about Penn Staters in the news pleaset let me know and I will post it.

Penn State Football: An Interactive Guide to the World of Sports book

Hey Everyone!!

I received an email from Marc Maxwell, co-author of Penn State Football: An Interactive Guide to the World of Sports.

Here is an excerpt from his email:

"I am a grad student through PSU's World Campus. Another of our co-author's is Penn State graduate Jared Trexler.

We have decided to donate 10% of the book's profits to the THON for every book sold on our website.

The book will be sold starting in August on our SBTN website.

If we can reach just a small percentage of the PSU alumni, I think we can raise a ton of money for THON and the Penn State faithful can get a great book for themselves or a fan..."

If you are interested in purchasing the book, please visit http://www.sportsbythenumbers.com/ .

Thanks!!
